The Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador — a non-profit responsible for bolstering the province’s writing scene — launched its latest initiative this week. In addition to its own awards, mentorships, readings, and other member benefits, WANL now has its own podcast: The Write Coast Podcast.
The podcasts are free of charge, and can be found at wanl.ca or The Write Coast Podcast soundcloud page. These podcasts will feature readings by local writers participating in WANL’s annual Spring Tides Reading Series, and visiting writers who have been invited here by a local author, for WANL’s Visiting Author Reading Series in the fall. The podcast will also capture readings here and there from local literary festivals and events.
Episode 1 features Trillium Book award winning poet Nick Thran, reading from his latest book Mayor Snow, who is introduced by the acclaimed Canadian poet Don McKay at The Ship Pub. Credit Carmella Gray-Cosgrove, WANL’s relatively new Executive Assistant, for the podcast.
