Clay Firing on The Beach

The Sixteenth Annual Beach Firing Fundraiser
Saturday 10:00am-6:00pm @ Middle Cove Beach

The Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Annual Beach Firing Fundraiser is happening at Middle Cove Beach this Saturday. The fire will be lit at 10:00am and you can begin buying finished pots at the Beach around 1:00pm or 2:00pm. Looks like Saturday is going to be hot and sunny, it will be the perfect day to soak up the last of the summer sun on the beach while learning all about the art of pit firing. All proceeds will go to the Craft Council’s Clay Studio and its programming.

Printmaking & Bookbinding Workshop

Printmaking & Bookbinding: A Holdfast Pop Up

Emily Pittman and Natalie Field of The Gathered Gallery are hosting a free printmaking and bookbinding workshop at the Anna Templeton Centre this Saturday. All materials will be provided and all the participants will get to take their handmade book home with them! This workshop is one of a slew of free workshops, performances, and parties hosted by Eastern Edge Gallery’s annual HOLDFAST Festival (happening this weekend!), check out their FB page for details.

FemFest NL & Women’s Film Fest Screening: Angry Inuk
Sunday 7:00pm-9:00pm @ The Space

The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is teaming up with FemFest NL to offer a PYWC screening of the award-winning documentary Angry Inuk by director Alethea Arnaquq-Baril. This powerful and informative film follows ”a new tech-savvy generation of Inuit as they campaign to challenge long-established perceptions of seal hunting.” The film is part of a full weekend of feminist programming hosted by FemFestNL, check out their FB page for the schedule.
