This month, the province’s richest literary award, The Winterset Award, announced the shortlist for its $10,000 prize. The Winterset recognizes “excellence in Newfoundland writing” in all genres, from children’s books to poetry, and novels to nonfiction. This year’s shortlist — selected by Agnes Walsh and Ruth Lawrence — is comprised of Lisa Moore’s novel, Caught, Paul Bowdring’s novel, The Strangers’ Gallery, and Carmelita McGrath’s collection of poetry, Escape Velocity.
Tonight, at 7, at The Rooms, you can catch all three authors reading from their work, and there’ll be both a Q&A with the audience, and a reception to follow.
The winner of the 2014 Winterset Award will be announced Thursday Morning at The Government House.
