Nominations Open: YWCA Women of Distinction Awards
YWCA St. John’s 3rd annual Women of Distinction Awards will be doled out on International Women’s Day in 2017, but, who they’re doled out to is up to you.
“These awards celebrate the achievements of women and give them a platform to share their stories in a way that empowers, inspires, and motivates others.”
There are eight categories to represent the accomplishments of women in different endeavours:
Young Women of Distinction
Mentorship and Education
Arts and Culture
Wellness and Active Living
Community and Social Development
The Awards Ceremony will take place at The Bella Vista on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2017. In addition to the Ceremony, YWCA will highlight all of the nominees at a Nominees’ Reception being planned for January 2017, and through a social media campaign profiling all nominees’ contributions to our community.

Nominations Open: Senior of the Year Volunteer Award
The City of St. John’s is seeking nominations for their annual Senior of the Year Award.
“This award recognizes any senior who has made significant contributions to the community through volunteering. If you know a senior making a difference in our community by volunteering, helping others, or participating in activities such as music, sport, recreation, or art, please complete a nomination form today.” Senior = 60 or older.
The deadline for nominations is 4pm on September 16th, and the award will be presented during a City Council meeting on Monday, October 3rd.
