Every week, we load new songs into our music library for Overcast Radio. Below are five standouts added this week.

TUNE INTO OVERCAST RADIO HERE: http://overcast.streamon.fm

From Seattle: Band of Horses’ “Casual Party”

Band of Horses are back with their 5th LP, and sound just as you’d expect: another suite of songs that sound like indie rock ballads for a coming summer.

..

From Halifax: Crossed Wires “Cornered”

Gritty for pop punk, these Haligonians have ties in town to the point local artist Amery Sandford did their most recent album cover.

..

From BC: Dan Mangan’s “Race to the Bottom”

Dan recently dropped a surprise EP, titled Unmake. It showed up on Facebook under a one-word status, “Surprise!” The EP has a duet with Tegan of Tegan and Sara + a cover of Robyn’s “Hang with Me.” But Race to the Bottom is the liveliest number, and the jam.

From New York: Lion Babe’s “Jump Hi”

Not a new album, having dropped in February 2016, it was late to trickle onto Overcast Radio. Better late than never for what might be the best pop album of the year — it’s Erykah Badu meets Beyonce. it’s gold. This track off her first EP made it onto her debut LP, and that’s fine, it’ll never get old.

From BC: Moonface and Siinai’s “Ugly Flower, Pretty Vase”

It’s a job to say what’s more impressive, Spencer Krug’s originality, or his sheer output (he’s in Wolf Parade, Swan Lake, Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes, Two Tonne Bowlers, and likely more). But his Moonface moniker is maybe where he shines the brightest, and this new Moonface (My Best Human Face) is his second collaboration with Siinai, and probably the best Moonface album to date.
