From the Seat… Christine E. E’Connor

Within an energy to preserve our community educated and decrease distress about critical matters, I’m offering frequent upgrades and informative info on regular topics affecting the Howard County Public School Program (HCPSS). Lately, I???ve noticed a lot about senior week and proms in Ocean City. Please share safety-related data with pupils and parents:

Prom Protection

We’re in prom season’s middle and all County public high schools present after- actions, sponsored #8217 & by the faculties; parent-teacher organizations. Both prom attendees -attenders are delightful to participate in - celebrations. Some pupils have already been involved in raising resources for these activities through packages such as the community- financed County Swim Match.

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) companions with HC drug-free to market booze/drug-safety, and HC DrugFree makes shows for parents & teens at highschools throughout every season. They require students to promote alcohol/drug-safety while in the universities through their Teenager Advisory Team. HC DrugFree sponsors an HC DrugFree category within the HCPSS-sponsored HoCo Film Fest (scholar-made movie competition).

Listed here are a couple of “Ideas To Retain Adolescents Safe on #8221 & Prom-Night; by Howard County drug-free president Webb Scornaienchi and guest blogger. And below are a few HCPSS Resources for Parents concerned with children and alcohol abuse.

After College ???

I understand everybody motivates young people to ???play it safe??? during week pursuits that are mature. Similar to the Howard Region pursuits, the ???Play It Safe??? system in Water Area vendors particular alcohol and drug-free gatherings in August for high-school graduates enjoying to the coast. The Safe software web-page that is Play It has info for parents.

HC DrugFree ???Senior Week placed, : Staying Safe in Sea City??? periods for parents and teens this spring. Verify HCPSS Information for notices of any additional times.

There are various safety related problems to contemplate before parents consent to enable their seniors weekly to pay unsupervised anywhere. In the seaside, we need to talk with kids about water safety, applying crosswalks to properly cross highways, frustrating drinking and using safe pursuits and solutions, including the $5 Mature Week bus pass in Ocean Area.

Let???s come together to make certain learners possess a healthy, secure and happy stop to the school year.
