JOIN the Friends of Pippy Park for the 4th Annual Maple Syrup Festival at North Bank Lodge! This event is free of charge, as are all maple syrup workshops.

Nothing says “Spring is coming” more than the sweet hobby of making your own maple syrup. Maple syruping has become a hot hobby in Newfoundland over the past few years. Due to the popularity of tapping maple trees, Friends of Pippy Park has upped our game for maple season this year. More than 10 on-site maple tapping tutorials for classrooms, youth groups, and the general public are happening in the park this year!

On April 8th at Pippy Park you can see the trees they’ve tapped, taste some delicious Pippy Park maple syrup, and meet Maple the maple syrup goat and her young kids.

There will be complimentary hot chocolate on offer (bring your own mug if possible, please), and visitors can tour the tapped trees and get a short on-site tutorial about tapping their own maple trees. They will explain the process of making your own syrup, and have freshly made Pippy Park Maple Syrup available for free tastings.

If you’re already an enthusiastic participant of maple syrup season, there’s even more of a reason to come out. You’ll get to connect with our ever-growing community of DIY maple makers, and discuss how this season’s harvest turned out for you. You can swap tips and stories, and the festival will wrap up with an informal ‘tasting competition’ where maple makers can enter their syrup to compare and contrast against others.

Extra off-site parking will be available at the Confederation Building – attendance routinely numbers in the hundreds. Can’t wait to see you all there!!
