Pass the Screech, Orchid’s Curse are on the Rock

by Samm Joyy

Prepare yourselves for some heavy, downright dirty metal, as Orchid’s Curse takes over The Levee this weekend for their first show ever in St. John’s.

Originating from Nova Scotia, Orchid’s Curse has been shredding up the Eastern music scene making a huge impact with their almost experimental and melodic sound. Sharing the stage with bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Children of Bodom, 3 Inches of Blood, and Fuck the Facts, Orchid’s Curse has illustrated their lust for profound heavy metal.

After dedicating almost a decade to their music, the band agrees that they have no intentions of taking a break.

“We didn’t come this far just to quit now. This is collectively our baby; we’ve put a lot of blood sweat and tears into our music,” described drummer Bobby Webb.

“We’re going to keep releasing new stuff until we physically cannot play music anymore,” added guitarist Brian Jones.

Those who enjoyed the earlier albums from Orchid’s Curse, like their debut EP Goodbye is When The Casket Closes (2006), Voices: The Tales of Broken Men (2010) and Words, released last year, will be thrilled to hear that pre production for their new EP has already begun.

“The first weekend of July we’re going to Coda Pop Studios to begin recording,” Jones explained. “Our new EP should be out this fall.” The band also hinted at an upcoming Eastern tour which may begin once their EP is complete.

Don’t underestimate the power of a couple of guitars, a bass and a drum kit. Orchid’s Curse is bound to blow some eardrums and seduce the inner head bangers of the audience.

You won’t want to miss their shows at The Levee this weekend:
Friday June 6, with ToShredsYouSay, the Combine, and Nuke Em’.
Saturday June 7, with Torn, Appian, and Devastator.
