"The Pride Committee at the native Friendship Centre created a potentially record-breakingly large rainbow dreamcatcher for its float at the Pride parade on the 17th."
The St. John’s Native Friendship Centre is a community-based, non-profit, registered charity in St. John’s that serves the capital city’s urban Aboriginal population through a celebration of Aboriginal culture and a variety of programs and services open to all people regardless of heritage.
For Pride Week in St. John’s (July 11-17th), the Pride Committee of The Centre created an enormous rainbow dreamcatcher for its float at the Pride parade on the 17th. And the dreamcatcher ended up being so big that it might break a Guinness World Record for “largest dreamcatcher.”
The Native Friendship Centre’s entry is awaiting approval from the folks at Guinness Book. Prior to this news, The Friendship Centre hosted a Pride bingo night to raise money for LGBTQ-related activities at The Centre. The committee added a 50/50 draw to its fundraiser to support an LGBTQ organization in Florida that is helping the families affected by the mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub last month.
