All Lit Up

What better time than a Wednesday to slip out into the night and break-up the week? And isn’t any time the right time to get out and celebrate both books and local writers?

This particular Wednesday, using the fuel of food from Rocket, Literary Press Group Canada is having the St. John’s launch of its new website: All Lit Up!

The event will feature entertaining literary performances from a new wave of local and locally published authors: Megan Coles, Craig Francis Power, Chad Pelley, and Gemma Hickey, all hosted by the charming Giller-nominee, Elisabeth de Mariaffi.

What is All Lit About about? It’s a website celebrating Canadian authors published by Canadian publishers, and ultimately a place to find your next new book.

“But who are we?,” their website concedes, “We’re the staff at the Literary Press Group, and to our great delight we get to work with creative and risk-taking independent Canadian publishers every day. On All Lit Up, you’ll find over 6800 books from over 40 of our member publishers.”

“The only place to feature and sell exclusively Canadian literary titles, All Lit Up is set to be the new hub for Canadian literary booklovers. In addition to being able to browse our “shelves,” we’ll have related content on our blog that we develop with the help of our publishers and contributors.”

They’ll also be posting daily content on their blog. “First up, we shared an excerpt from Bourbon & Eventide by Mike Spry, and we’ve had our first contributed piece, from author Chad Pelley, on why it’s so good to publish traditionally, independently, and locally.

Wednesday night, in the Rocket Room on Water Street, at 7 pm. Free of charge, full of fun.
