We’re losing people from Newfoundland & Labrador. It’s bad for our economy, workforce, and quality of life here. We have more people leaving the workforce than entering it, more young people leaving the province for perceived greener pastures, and more grim stats to worsen the trend.
Our government recently announced they’re giving Memorial University’s Office of Alumni Affairs $22,800 to undertake four expatriate outreach events, in the hopes of luring locals back to our province. Ex-pats are also filling out surveys on what it’d take for them to come home.
- What ideas do you have, to attract our people back?
- Or would you not advise them to come back at all? (Why not?)
- Why did you, your friends, or family move away in the first place?
