As rolling blackouts rolled through St. John’s, filmmaker Jenina Macgillivray was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pains and dangerously low blood pressure. By morning, she was in critical condition and rushed to surgery. While the doctors were able to fix her up, she’ll be unable to work for months as she recovers. At the time of her admission to hospital, Jenina was gearing up to shoot a short film “Boarding,” which is based on a true story involving her sister. Let’s all keep an eye out for that too. Her project is part of NIFCO’s amazing first-time filmmakers program, which offers a combination of courses and mentorships, plus access to their gear to shoot your film.
