1.) George Murray was recently named Poet Laureate for St. John’s. The Once, a popular local band, like his poetry so much they wanted to collaborate with him on a song. Their song, “A Song for Memory,” is an adaptation of a poem by George.

2.) Boreal felt lichen (Erioderma pedicellatum) is one of the most endangered species of lichen in the word. It has vanished from 3 of the 5 places it was known to live (New Brunswick, Norway, Sweden) and about 200 pieces of it exist in Nova Scotia. 3.) Winky’s chip truck on George Street is known to have caught fire at least 3 times since opening.
