One year ago today, music lost a legend when Prince died from an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park home and recording studio. In the year since, he’s still going strong, and managed to outsell both Adele and Drake in 2016-17.
To commemorate his death, we’re releasing a compilation of locals covering a broad swath of recently fallen icons, like Prince, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, and our very own, Ron Hynes. The Fall of 2015 to Fall of 2106 saw a lot of fallen icons, and in this era of flash-in-the-pan artists, musicians whose careers spanned decades like these folks is getting rare as a blue steak. As is the notion of musicians who retained creative control of their careers, making their losses all the more significant.
There was an open call for submissions, and these 10 answered the call. You can stream it below, or stream it / download it on our Bandcamp page (along with many other Overcast Compilations!).
