Féile Séamus Creagh is an annual festival of Traditional Music, Song and Dance from Newfoundland and Ireland. It is named in memory of the late fiddle master Séamus Creagh. The five day festival highlights visiting Irish, as well as local Newfoundland performers, and includes a lecture, four concerts ( Freshwater (Carbonear), Bay Bulls, St. John’s and Ferryland ), music workshops, and sessions.
This year we have another fantastic line-up, featuring Ireland’s Matt Cranitch, Jackie Daly & Paul De Grae, Anna, Sheila & Clare Friel, and Edwina Guckian. From Newfoundland we are pleased to welcome Dave Penny, Fergus O’Byrne & Fergus Brown-O’Byrne, Greg & Karla Walsh, and Rum Ragged. We are also delighted to have the Newfoundland/Irish group Cordeen perform this year, as they begin the Newfoundland leg of their tour.
We will kick off our week with a shared lecture on the dance traditions of Ireland and Newfoundland, featuring Ireland’s Edwina Guckian, and Newfoundland’s Jim Payne. More details can be found on our website closer to the festival.
