DanceNL is mandated to “to preserve, promote, and support all forms of dance and dance activities throughout the province.” That includes a public poll for the most danceable local song of the year.
This competition is a partnership with MusicNL and CBC Radio One. Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador were asked to nominate a local song that most makes them want to get up and dance.
There are four songs in the running, everything from mock trad to a sax-driven jazz jam, courtesy of: Rafiki, Ouroboros, The Sauce, and It Could be Franky
Click here to listen to the four songs and cast a vote. Voting closes Thursday, April 21st at 11:59pm. The winner will be announced to kick off Dance Week 2016 on April 22nd.
Virtual Flashmob: Participate in a Dance Week Compilation Video by Recording Yourself Dancing!
Once the Most Danceable Song is announced, DanceNL will choreograph a flashmob and post an instructional video online. They want you to meet up with your class or your friends, learn the dance, and send them a video of you dancing. “We’ll cut it together into a province-wide celebratory music video, to be released on April 29th: International Dance Day!”
