“The level of engagement we’ve had through Everybody Eats illustrates how important the issue of food security and access to healthy, local food is for people across the province,” said Kristie Jameson, Executive Director of Food First NL.
Originally from India, Manas and Mousumi Mukhopadhyay moved to the west coast of Newfoundland in 2016 and immediately fell in love with the place. They thought it was strange, however, that there was no Indian restaurant.
“We get together and do things like butcher a lamb or make sausages. We all work together to make something, then we eat it and share any knowledge we have about the food with everyone at the table,” McCarthy explained.
