Bitters, the great on-campus secret, is a wonderfully charming place. Being a Graduate student I am happy to call it a second home, but many people overlook it as the great restaurant that it is.

The menu offers up typical pub fare, but offers great options for vegetarians and anyone with a gluten allergy. I am very keen on the Fire Hall Chicken Sandwich, served on a whole wheat bun with one of their salads. YUM!

Recently this pub claimed NL's first LEAF certification for sustainability. I've been to a few events that have been hosted at Bitters where the menu has been modified for a buffet and they have always been creative and unexpected choices for what seems to be a typical pub.

Other on-campus choices can be quite expensive. Pitas or subs can be $10 or more depending on what you are getting. Bitters offers whole meals for less than that!

A friend and I used to lunch here once a month or so when he worked on Campus. Fine, cheap, diner-type food. The "Tracey" burger is a personal favorite.

Evenings require you to order food at the bar...no table service.

No desserts on the menu, but occasionally there is a cake behind the bar.

Once asked if there was dessert, and was told no, they didn't serve dessert. Server returned a moment later with a couple of pieces of cake from a staff birthday that had been celebrated earlier.

Well played, cake server, well played.
