Although the St. John’s food scene has been broadening its borders and offering more and more in the way of both hyper-local and international cuisines, the city is still not slinging much in the way of Caribbean eats, and zero proper Jamaican food.
Tonight, for one-night only, there’ll be an authentic Jamaican patty pop-up at Fixed Coffee and Baking (Duckworth street, beside the War Memorial). Fixed’s baker, Xaiver Campbell, is collaborating with Daniel Fuchs for the event.
The pop-up will sell three types of authentic, flakey Jamaican patties, as well as Jamaican fruitcake, drinks, and other desserts. The pop-up is happening because of Campbell’s desire to help expand local food offerings in the city.
The service will be first come, first serve; eat in or take-out. Payment is cash only. Whole fruitcakes will also be available for purchase.
MENU:
Jamaican Beef Patty $5.00
Cheese/Beef Patty $6.00
Veggie Patty (TVP) $4.50
Drunken Fruitcake $6.00 per serving | $28.00 whole
Carrot Cake, $4.00 per slice
7:00 – 10:00 pm
