If it’s not enough Mt. Pearl has cleaner streets in February, they’ve also got their very own winter festival. With more than 60 events taking place during its 11 day spread. Below is a select highlight per day starting on Friday. See also the links to read more about other events that day.

Friday February 5th: 7:30pm – 9 @ The Glacier
Wonderbolt Circus Going All Out for “Circus Glorious” 

It’s being dubbed as “Wonderbolt Circus most dazzling circus production ever, complete with jaw dropping aerial acts, amazing circus artistry, inter-continental clowning, sophisticated choreography and original music.”

This is an all ages event meant to “transport audiences back to the Golden Age of circus.” It will feature local, national, and international artists, complete with  technicolour costumes. Chanteuse Kelly-Ann Evans, and Mount Pearl’s own The Company of Etcetera Productions all add to the evening.  FREE ADMISSION.

Saturday February 6th: 2:30pm – 5:30 @ Mt. Pearl Senior High
Mount Pearl Chili Cook-Off

Treat yourself to chili galore, as local restaurants compete for the title of “Best Chili in Mount Pearl.” There will be 50/50 draws, games for children, and a silent auction. Tickets are at the door, or you can secure some by phoning 685-6551. There’ll be hot dogs “for the kids.” Admission: $10.00 to taste the chilis; $5.00 per children’s meal.

Sunday the 7th: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm @ The Glacier (Doors at 12:30pm)
The Frosty Cup

This one’s for you, sports fans: Mount Pearl’s future NHLers compete for the “Frosty Cup.” Watch kids under ten, from the Mount Pearl Minor Hockey Association, show you how it’s done. Admission: $2.00 (Children 12 & under free).

Monday the 8th: 7pm – 11 @ Reid Community Centre
Game of 120’s

A Newfoundland favourite, a game of 120’s among friends and strangers is sure to delight, but, here’s the kicker: it’s 50+ only. “Bring your own baskets and cards. There will be Nevada’s, cash draws, card prizes, door prize, and other prize draws.” Admission: $5.00.

Tuesday the 9th: 7:30 – 10:30 @ Reid Community Centre
Battle of the Brains

A 19+ event that required ID, this one’s for trivia fiends. “Think you know all the answers?  Then it’s time to put your skills to the test!  Grab a few friends and make a team. Bar open – munchies served – call 364-3324 or 364-9596 to register your team.” Admission:  $5 per person – max of 6 people per team.

Wednesday the 9th: 5pm – 9:30 @ Reid Community Centre
Old-Fashioned Jiggs Dinner and Variety Show

Dinner: 5:00 pm (doors open at 4:45 pm)
Variety Show: 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

“Let us do the cooking for you and then let us entertain you. Bring the whole family for the best scoff you’ve ever tasted. We are serving an old-fashioned jiggs dinner, dessert, tea and coffee. After supper, stay for the Variety Show where you’ll be entertained by your favorite local performers! You won’t want to miss the musicians and old-fashioned skits.” Admission: Dinner and Variety Show $15.76. Variety Show Only $5.00 (Children 12 & under free).  Dinner tickets must be purchased no later than Monday February 8, 2016. Variety Show tickets are only available at the door.

Spirit of Newfoundland’s “It’s My Party and I’ll Bawl If I Want To” Dinner Theatre

A 19+ event with bar service, this dinner theatre invites you to “come sing along, relive the times of your life, and laugh ‘til it hurts as Spirit NL poses the question…tummy tuck, suck it up, or live it up? New in Summer 2015, this critically acclaimed musical has an all-star cast featuring Sheila Williams, Shelley Neville, Peter Halley, Janet Cull, and Keith Power. Meal prepared by Fireside Catering.” Admission: $67.25 per person. Ticket price includes two bottles of wine per table of eight. Tickets must be purchased in advance before Sunday February 7, 2016. Limit of eight (8) tickets per person.

A Deadly Evening – Murder Mystery Game

IDs required to confirm 19+. “Grab your magnifying glass and your detective hat, it’s time to solve a mystery. Join AAMP and Morrigan Mystery Evenings as their actors present the clues for you to figure out “who done it?” Refreshments will be provided.” Admission: $20.00.

Saturday the 12th: Noon until who knows @ Park Place 
Frosty’s Texas Hold’em

Registration starts at 11:00am, and you must by 19+. “Do you have what it takes to be the best poker player in Mount Pearl? Come out and put yourself to the test.” Admission:  $10.00 entry fee. Re-buys and top-ups are extra.

Sunday the 13th: Noon – 3 @ Powers Pond Playground
Snow Sculpture Contest

“Put your creativity on ice – in a good way – with the Mount Pearl Frosty Festival Association and the Arts in Mount Pearl. Families, friends or any group are invited to join us and have fun creating a work of outdoor art. Hot chocolate will be served.
