Want to learn more about cheese, it’s many varieties, how it’s made, and much more? Join Five Brothers’ Fromager Julia Bannister on a three-part workshop series where she will teach you the basics of cheese making, guide you in cheese tastings, and talk about its colourful history. Part one on Wednesday is an Introduction to Cheese. Part 2 (Nov.14th) is on European Cheese, and part 3 (Dec. 12th) on Christmas Cheese. Each session costs $35 per person, or you can do all 3 for $90. Pick up the tickets at the St. John’s Farmer’s Market, or an email money transfer can be sent to admin@fivebrotherscheese.com.
Halloween Haunted Hike

The Haunted Hike returns for Halloween 2018. “Our ghoulish guides will share their favourite ghost stories from the Hike,” the event promises, “combining tales from both our summer tours.” Tickets are $10 per person, cash sale only, available at the start of the tour with no need to book in advance. The haunted hike is about an hour and 15 minutes long.

The Nickel’s 48 Hour Horror Film Challenge
October 26-28
The Nickel’s 48-Hour Horror Film Challenge 2018 is a free creative challenge to anyone to write, shoot, and edit a short film of five minutes or less from 8pm on October 26th to 8pm on October 28th. It’s free to participate, and registration is open until noon on October 26th, 2018. Submitted horror films can be any length below 5 minutes, and can fall under any of the sub-genres of horror. Each team will receive an email with a prop and line of dialogue which must appear in each film. All submissions must include the Nickel logo and bumper at the beginning of each film.
