Every weekday in March we’ll be posting some of the RPM Challenge albums you all recorded in February …

Brian Downton is well known as the drummer for some pretty epic local bands from yesteryears, including Potatobug, Lizband, and JKW, and for fronting other efforts, such as Wheadeater, A Boy Named Tragedy, Cabmen, and Crash Jones Band. This album, under the moniker of Personal Space Invaders, is his fifth RPM album.

This year I went under the title Personal Space Invaders. I recorded most of it at the beginning of February until I travelled to Corner Brook to check into Humberwood’s addictions program, where I recorded and finished the album while recovering from my addiction. Some of the tunes on the album are based around addiction. I did everything on the album … writing, performing, recording, producing, mixing, etc. I drew up the album cover while in Humberwood and basically used the Corner Brook library as my place for computer and internet access. At first I wasn’t going to finish or submit an album this year, but got the motivation and determination while attending Humberwood so I finished the album and sent it off in the mail. ” - Brian Downton
